Dangerous Product Recalled: What to Do if You Own A Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Most people love the idea of brand new technology, but sometimes the early adopters have to deal with severe defects in the products. This is very much the case for users of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, which was released to US customers on August 19, 2016. Stories broke out about the original product spontaneously catching fire, so the company issued a recall and replaced the faulty units. Despite this, it turned out that the replacements were prone to combustion as well. Accordingly, Samsung has halted all production and sales of the phone until they can determine the true root of the problem and find a remedy. Not only has Samsung halted production and sales, but they have also issued a global recall on all existing devices. If you were one of the millions of people who purchased this phone, read on to see what you can do to make the best out of the situation

  • Turn Your Phone Off Immediately and Stop Using It.
    1. Above all else, safety is the greatest concern. Samsung recommends that any owners turn their phones off as soon as possible to avoid safety risks and go about the methods of refunds and replacement.
    2. If you have vital data on your phone that you absolutely can not afford to lose, please us a different phone to contact Samsung’s US Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (7167864) to discuss possible methods of backup.
  • Refund Your Purchase/Replace Your Phone
    1. If you would like a refund on the phone, you can take it to the retailer where you purchased it and they will issue you a refund on behalf of Samsung.
    2. If you would like to replace the phone for a similar model, you can do so at the retailer where you purchased it or you can use a different phone to contact Samsung’s US Customer Support line at 1-800-SAMSUNG (7167864) to begin the replacement process.
      1. As of October 11, 2016, Samsung will be honoring replacement claims by providing applicants with a similar model called the Galaxy S7 Edge due to the fact that their previous replacements of the Galaxy Note 7 were found to have the same issues as the phones they were replacing. Samsung has stated that when the root of the combustion problem is found and corrected in the Galaxy Note 7 product, they will issue same-phone replacements.

Most of all, it is important to seek proper care and compensation for any damages. At Parvey and Cavenago, we fight to protect consumers like you in these exact situations.
