Do You Keep These in Your Car?

blog

It’s finally summer vacation and time for your family to go on a road trip. Looking down the list of things needed, you check off what’s already in the trunk: toiletries (check), extra changes of clothes (check), a cooler full of snacks (got it!). You load up the kids, back out of the driveway and scan the list again; everything’s checked off but you still feel like you’re forgetting something.

You have everything for your vacation, but do you have everything for your vehicle?

Most people only remember to pack personal items, but few people take proactive steps to ensure their vehicle has everything it needs in case of an emergency.

Keep your family safe, and make sure to have these safety items in your vehicle at all times.

  • Doctor’s information: If you or a loved one needs medical attention, it’s best for the physician treating you to be aware of your specific medical history. Keep the name, phone number and address of your primary physician in your wallet and glove compartment.
  • Copy of your car insurance. Without having this in your vehicle, you can lose your license.
  • Jumper cables
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • Blanket for cold weather; sunshade for hot weather
  • Road flares
  • First aid kit: To treat minor injuries
  • Roll of quarters: In case of a toll charge or if you need money
  • Accident checklist:
